Ritz-Carlton Hotel Berlin – Treat Yourself to a Luxury Stay
Berlin is definitely not the first city that comes to my mind when I think of luxury travel or looking for a luxury hotel. Don’t get me wrong, I love Berlin.
I spent over three years in this city and I believe that this city is one of the most interesting cities in Europe with all its history. Sure, you can get all the luxury shopping down at the Kurfürstendamm or in the KaDeWe, but this city still has that Post-DDR charm and is famous for its alternative restaurant and bar scene.
THE RITZ-CARLTON HOTEL IN BERLIN IS PERFECT FOR SOME SIGHTSEEING & TO TREAT YOURSELF AFTERWARDS
Nonetheless, Berlin offers a good selection of five-star hotels and one of my favourites is the Ritz-Carlton.Situated directly at the famous Sony Centre at Potsdamer Platz, just a few minutes away from the Berlin Wall and a handful of museums and historic landmarks, it’s the perfect hotel for a visit to the German capital city.
FRIENDLY STAFF, BEAUTIFUL ROOMS AND A BED TO DIE FOR
The staff is extremely friendly here. From the first welcome of the concierge at the door until the last drink you’re served at the amazing bar, you will always feel very welcome. For this stay, I choose the beautiful executive suite. With almost 60 square meters, it offers you all the amenities you wish for after a long walk around town.
You have a living room/study with beautiful dark wooden antique furniture that makes you want to take out your laptop and sit down to work.
The bedroom is spacious and the bed is comfortable. Believe me, I know what I’m talking about, as I got a really bad cold during my stay at the Ritz-Carlton and spent an entire afternoon just in bed.
Oh, and If the snug bed is not enough, there is a pillow menu for your alternative pillow choice.
The executive suite also comes with a separate guest toilet and a pretty white marble-tiled bathroom with soaking tub and separate shower. So, get that Moet out from the mini bar and plunge into that bubble bath, with the luxurious Asprey bath products, your skin will thank you for.
FROM AFTERNOON TEA TO THE COCKTAIL BAR – YOU HARDLY FIND A REASON TO STEP OUT THE BUILDING
For the hungry traveller, besides an amazing Afternoon Tea, the Ritz-Carlton offers a good selection of 24-hour room dining and a great breakfast menu and has an in-house restaurant, the Brasserie Desbrosses.
Don’t get fooled by the plain-looking interior—you won’t get your every-day brasserie food here. The food we had was world class.
Suckling pig with pickled vegetables or the best pieces of lamb—you won’t be disappointed. They also offer a chef’s special: beef filet with foie gras and truffle, if you want it a bit more exclusive. However, if you don’t eat meat or fish, you may be better off eating somewhere else.
And after dinner, choose one of the amazing creations out of “The Reincarnation of Taste” Cocktail Menu from the Curtain Club and relax after a busy day in the city of Berlin. After all, the Hotel Bar is one of the main reason you should stay in this Hotel.
My absolute favorite is the “Royal Sapin”. A citrusy Champagne Cocktail with some Boxing Hares – this was love at first sight!
Or how about the “Donna Margherita”? With a price tag of €65 it’s maybe not the cheapest cocktail you ever had, but hey, it comes with its own freaking shrine… Gin-Gin!
