Watermelon Dark’n’Stormy – a great variation of this rum cocktail with ginger ale and melon spritzer
I love getting creative in the kitchen, whatever I’m cooking or mixing cocktails. I’m not a bartender, and my cocktail knowledge is not huge, but I guess I just have a good feeling what a yummy and pretty drink needs.
At least my friends that have visited my home tiki bar would agree with this statement.
Most of my creations originated when I tweaked a recipe from some of my favorite cocktails, or I just use what’s in the house.
So it was with this watermelon dark ‘n’ stormy. I mixed it with some leftover watermelon on a summer Sunday, and later I served it at a cocktail party.
Since all of the guests loved this drink, I wanted to share it with you and decided to create this blog post.
It’s not only the perfect drink for a summer party but also great in the colder months, if you have access to watermelon.
The ginger warms you from the inside and with the vitamins from the watermelon, you have a perfect team to fight those nasty bugs, that come with the cooler temperatures.
I actually tried it with ginger beer (like in the original dark ‘n’ stormy recipe), but I liked it even better with ginger ale. Ginger ale seems to give the watermelon a bit more room.
Watermelon Dark ‘n’ Stormy Recipe

- 1.25 cups dark rum
