Kaanapali Beach Hotel The Most Hawaiian Hotel on Maui
As a fan of the tiki culture, I just had to book the Kaanapali Beach Hotel, for my my honeymoon on Maui. Called the most Hawaiian Hotel on the island and having a pool bar called “the Tiki Bar”, this place jumped right into my face when I opened it up on booking.com.
It was the perfect place for my honeymoon, and if the beauty of Mau itself would not be enough, this Hotel made it a truly unforgettable trip. The Kaanapali Beach Hotel is may not the most luxurious one along the west Maui coast, but I tell you, I fell absolutely in love with it and would go back anytime.
WITH BLACK ROCK JUST IN FRONT AND LAHAINA TOWN A SHORT DRIVE AWAY, THIS HOTEL IS PERFECT FOR YOUR NEXT MAUI TRIP
Situated at the magnificent Kaanapali Beach, just a few steps away from Black Rock, this hotel is perfect if you love the beach life and snorkelling. Kaanapali is world famous, and I can understand why. I love this beach, silk-soft sand, beautiful clear water and along the black rock you can easy snorkel all day long. And Honus, the Pacific green sea turtle! There are tonnes of them, and I still don’t understand why everyone is booking a trip to turtle town and waits in the waters with hundreds of other tourists, for maybe spotting a few turtles from far away. Around black rock I had at least one, swimming with me every day.
And the Hotel itself lives up to its name. Already at the front desk, I get drawn in by the beautiful old photographs and explanations of the Hawaiian culture. The staff was extremely friendly, well not that I ever had unfriendly stuff on any of my Hawaii trips. We had a garden room with a lovely seating area with the view to the pool area. The room was very authentic with beautiful Hawaiian interior, and the bed made up with all the stress I had to handle before my trip when we missed our flight to Honolulu from Vegas.
I think this hotel is perfect if you like it a bit calmer and away from the huge touristy places. I found out that a lot of people at the Kaanapali Beach have time shares and visiting for many years. This makes it a bit more casual and your Maui stay even more relaxed.
But you can still walk up the road and visit resorts like Westin Maui Resort or the Whalers’ Village, both only a few minutes up the beach. Or a 10 minutes drive and you are in the lively town of Lahaina with countless bars and restaurants.
THE TIKI BAR NEXT TO THE POOL LOOKS MAYBE A BIT PLAIN, NOT SO THE DRINKs
But the more relaxed touch of this places does not mean you can’t have a great party here. Would I otherwise rave about it? Think again. I did mention the tiki bar right? Actually, it is maybe just an average pool bar with a tiki statue next to it. But that’s only the first impression.
“All right!” says the man behind the bar, with a cheeky smile on his face. His name is Dale, and he is worth its own blog post, but I’m still working on that. Believe me, if you sit down for one of his Mai Tai’s you won’t care anymore about everything around.
The Kaanapali Beach Hotel also offers great food at the tiki terrace and a weekly luau. And don’t miss out on the award-winning Sunday champagne brunch, if you decide to stay there. Served from 9 am – 1 pm. It offers many Hawaiian specialities, but also traditional brunch items and of course, champagne. Gin-Gin!
